SEI’s work universe spans community-based and gender-sensitive services, livelihood development with natural resources management and biodiversity conservation, Integrated watershed management, Disaster risk reduction and emergency preparedness, Improving WASH related issues. SEI does extensive evaluative reporting on the existing eco-systems in diverse geographic locations, project feasibility analysis, and SEI undertakes research on ongoing projects to add value in terms of project goal sustainability.

Water
and Sanitation

We help our clients facilitate the process of accessibility of safe water and sanitation to the masses. We engage beneficiaries and ensure stakeholder participation, conduct awareness raising campaigns and provide full management assistance for the entire project cycle. We work in Urban Slums, in rural locales, in the mountains and desert regions of India on Water resource management, Water purification, testing and audits, and sustainable technologies like Rainwater harvesting

Solid and Liquid Waste Management

We support our clients in conducting situation/needs assessment for Solid waste management including plastic waste. We design and collaborate on developing protracted sanitation-chains, to ensure a sustainable system for the collection, transport, treatment and disposal of human and other waste, and to focus on the associated hygiene. We consult on various sustainable technologies, e.g. composting and biogas generation, for the recycling and reuse of both biodegradable and other kinds of waste.

Environment and Climate Change

We help interlinking individuals and institutions with the environment and natural resources so that we can support them to efficiently incorporate environmental and climate change concerns into their development projects. We build the capacities of our clients, stakeholders and vulnerable groups to make them aware of environmental issues and effects of climate change in their lives, specially the youngsters and children.

Hygiene
and Health

We help clients and communities to address issues of health and hazards. We develop training modules, awareness generation materials and drives, research and studies for wider outreach and policy advocacy. We consult on Health issues related to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene. We design community interventions for the dissemination of WASH related knowledge, and about issues such as Women’s health and sanitation.

Disaster Preparedness and Response

Water and sanitation, along with food and shelter, are the most important human needs in any disaster (natural or manmade). Without water, people will die or move on in search of it. At times of disasters, children are more susceptible to illness and death from diseases that are often caused by lack of sanitation, inadequate safe water and poor hygiene. Without access to basic water and sanitation services, and without the practice of good hygiene, the danger of diarrhoea, cholera and other disease outbreaks is high.
