Solid and Liquid
waste management

Soil, air and water pollution pose a risk to sustainable development all around the world. Waste disposal issues, especially with plastic waste, are exacerbated by changing patterns of consumption, industrial development and urbanisation; this in turn means that traditional systems for solid waste disposal and recycling need an upgrade or replacement. This problem affects informal settlements in particular.

We support our clients in conducting situation/needs assessment to understand the issues, current practices and needs of Solid waste management including plastic waste. We design and collaborate on developing protracted sanitation-chains, to ensure a sustainable system for the collection, transport, treatment and disposal of human and other waste, and to focus on the associated hygiene. We consult on various sustainable technologies, e.g. composting and biogas generation, for the recycling and reuse of both biodegradable and other kinds of waste.

We also help in reviewing of existing training modules and manuals on Solid waste management and recycling. We can develop need based educational materials on Waste Management which includes posters, flip charts, flash cards games etc. to facilitate interactive learning, training modules, etc.
