Hygiene and Health

Diarrhea prevalence drops substantially if open defecation is completely eliminated. The World Health Organization estimates that 50 percent of malnutrition is associated with repeated diarrhea or intestinal worm infections due to unsafe water or poor sanitation and hygiene. The interaction between diarrheal disease and malnutrition is well established. Diarrhea is often caused by a lack of clean water for proper hand-washing. According to UNICEF, globally, an estimated one in four children under age 5 suffer from stunting, a form of malnutrition in which children are shorter than what normal for their age.

We help clients and communities to address issues of health and hazards. We develop training modules, awareness generation materials and drives, research and studies for wider outreach and policy advocacy. We consult on Health issues related to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene. We design community interventions for the dissemination of WASH related knowledge, and about issues such as Women’s health and sanitation. We design interventions to effect behavioral change around issues of both personal and community hygiene practices.
