Our Profile

WHY DO WE EXIST?

SEI brings fresh inputs to your existing social development efforts, fueled by ideas and grounded in experience and performance.

We fill the gap of technical resources in the Social development sector. Many NGOs have been implementing multifaceted development programsin challenging circumstances and within limited timelines. Their core strength is social mobilisation and community participation but many lack technical skills to address issues of Water, Sanitation, Solid & Liquid Waste Management, Hygiene, Climate change and Health. We support our clients in implementing highly technical and challenging social development programs from start to finish.

To improve outcomes it is important to build capacities of organisations in the areas of environmental engineering, flood risk management, integrated water resources management, environmental implications of water engineering and sanitation services, health, hygiene and water supply. SEI participates in applied research, water quality analysis, training, consultancies, outreach programs, and the practical application of research findings. We do this through various trainings, workshops, exposure visits, study tours, etc.

The SEI Knowledge Hub intends to develop a knowledge base of current research in water, sanitation, health, hygiene, solid & liquid waste management (SLWM) and climate change in the form of best practices, articles, reports, position papers, and so on. This will help to bring together professionals and organizations from the sector to engage in knowledgesharing and collective action on key issues related to water, sanitation, health and climate change.

At present, there are several global initiatives that are monitoring different aspects of the water, sanitation, health, hygiene, SLWM and climate change sector, but what they lack is a coherent framework. In embarking upon the 2030 agenda for Sustainable Development with dedicated goals on above issues SEI would focus on creating credible data to help clients underpin sector advocacy, stir political obligation, inform decision making and trigger well-placed investment towards optimum health, environment and economic gains.
